Day 0: London Heathrow to Delhi

Day 2: Delhi to Haridwar by train Shatabadi express: 06:45 – 11:45 hrs

– Upon arrival at Haridwar railway station drive to Rishikesh : THE YOGA CAPITAL OF THE WORLD: Ever since the Beatles rocked up at the ashram of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the late ’60s, Rishikesh has been a magnet for spiritual seekers. Today it styles itself as the ‘Yoga Capital of the World’, with masses of ashrams and all kinds of yoga and meditation classes. Most of this action is north of the main town, where the exquisite setting on the fast-flowing Ganges, surrounded by forested hills, is conducive to meditation and mind expansion.
– In the evening, an almost supernatural breeze blows down the valley, setting temple bells ringing as sadhus (‘holy’ men), pilgrims and tourists prepare for the nightly ganga aarti (river worship ceremony). You can learn to play the sitar or tabla; try Hasya yoga (laughter therapy), practise meditation or take a punt on crystal healing.
– Check in at Dewa Retreat – “Dewa” or Deva is the Sanskrit word for divine being or God in Hinduism. It also means “celestial” or “shining”, from the root. Dewa Retreat is a Boutique Retreat & Spa ensconced amidst the foothills of the great Himalayas near Laxman Jhula.

Day 1: Arrival – Delhi
– 08:20 Hrs: Arrive Delhi.
– Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Delhi to Katni by train
– Full day sightseeing tour of Delhi. You will get a feel for this city as you explore its historic sights. Raj Ghat which is located on the banks of the river Yamuna, This is Mahatma Gandhi’s Memorial, where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948.
Opposite the Red Fort lies Jama Masjid made of red sandstone and white marble, completed in 1656. It is India’s largest mosque. Explore the bustling cultural delight of the colourful market on the ‘cycle rickshaw’ for a unique experience from the Red Fort, through “Chandni Chowk” or Silver Street, experiencing the sights and sounds of this very busy avenue-heading west from the Fort. You will take a view of Red Fort – the 17th century imposing fortress built in red sandstone is surrounded by a huge boundary wall 33m high. Inside are exquisite palaces and beautiful gardens.
Afternoon you will head into New Delhi, visiting Humayun’s Tomb, an impressive garden tomb with high arches and a double dome, built by his wife Haji Begum in the 16th Century. An early example of Mughal architecture considered the predecessor of the Taj Mahal.
Then continue on to the wonderful Qutab Minar – the landmark of Delhi, the beautiful grounds feature the well preserve a huge tower of victory standing over 72 meters. You will drive on to Rajpath and through to India Gate and the Lutyens Delhi with its tree lined boulevards leading to the British Viceroy’s Palace (Rashtrapati Bhavan) now the official residence of the President of India, the Secretariat, India Gate and Parliament House.

Day 3: Katni to Bandhavgarh by surface

Day 1: Ahmedabad

Day 2: Ahmedabad
Morning proceed for city tour of Ahmedabad visiting ‘Akshardham’ literally means the divine abode of God. It is an eternal place for one to offer devotion and experience everlasting peace. Swaminarayan Akshardham at Gandhinagar is a mandir – a Hindu house of worship, a dwelling place for God, and a spiritual and cultural campus dedicated to devotion, education and unification. Timeless devotional messages and vibrant Hindu traditions are echoed in its art and architecture. The mandir is a humble tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781- 1830) and the avatars, devas and sages of Hinduism. This traditionally-styled complex was inaugurated on October 30th, 1992 with the blessings of HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj and through the devoted efforts of skilled artisans and volunteers. The Iskcon Temple one of the biggest temple Huthisinhg Temple – is the best known Jain temple in Ahmedabad. It was constructed in 1848. The temple architect was Premchand Salat. Day 3: Ahmedabad
After breakfast excursion of Modhera and Patan.
Sun Temple Modhera is known for the 11th century Sun temple. The 11th century Sun temple is situated on a knoll in Modhera. The Sun Temple was built by King Bhimdev I in 1026-27 AD, two centuries before the Sun Temple at Konark. This temple is one of the finest Hindu temples in Gujarat, built by the great Solanki dynasty. This temple and the Konark Sun temple in Orissa are very similar. This similarity is that this temple was also designed in such a way so as to let the dawn sun shine on the image of Surya, at the time of equinoxes. The main hall and shrine are reached through a complex, pillared pavilion. Also visit Patan Return back to Ahmedabad for an Overnight stay.

Day 4: Ahmedabad to Rajkot by surface (Approx. 220 Kms, 4 Hrs)
In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Rajkot. Upon arrival at Rajkot, check in at Hotel. Afternoon visit Kaba Gandhi No Delo – Karamchand Gandhi, the father of the Mahatma was appointed the diwan of Rajkot state and resided in what is today known as Kaba Gandhi no Delo, located just off the busy Gheekantha Road.
The house offers a pictoral tour of Mahatma’s life with bilingual captions . An NGO runs classes in sweing and embroidery for young girls within the premises & Baps Swaminarayan Temple. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 5: Rajkot to Dwarka by surface (Approx. 235 Kms, 5 Hrs)
After breakfast check out from Hotel and drive from Rajkot to Dwarka Upon arrival at Dwarka, check in at Hotel.
Afternoon visit Dwarkadish Temple
– The main temple at Dwarka, situated on Gomti creek is known as Jagat
Mandir (universal shrine) or trilok sundar (the most beautiful in all the three worlds). Originally believed to be built by Vajranabh, the great grandson of Lord Krishna, more than 2500 years ago, it is a glorious structure seeming to rise from the waters of the Arabian Sea.

Timing : Morning 7.00 to Afternoon 12.30 and Evening 5.00 to 9.30.

Rukmani Temple
– The exterior of the Rukmini Temple is richly carved. It has a panel of sculpted naratharas (human figures) and a panel of sculpted gajatharas (elephants) at the base. The traditional spire of the main shrine contrasts strongly with the hemispherical dome of the pavilion & Bet Dwarka. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 6: Dwarka

Day 7: Dwarka to Somnath by surface (Approx. 250 Kms, 5 Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Somnath, visiting Kirti Mandir In Porbandar, Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Ghat And Somnath Temple – The principal temple of Somnath is believed to have seen built in gold by the moon god Soma. In silver by the sun god Ravi, in wood by Krishna and in stone by the Solanki Rajputs in the 11th century. The present temple, built in 1951, is the seventh reconstruction on the original site. Tales of its riches attracted a series of invasions, but each time the temple was invaded, it was restored to its original glory by devout Hindu worshiper. The temple imposing architecture includes intricate carvings, silvers doors, an impressive Nandi idol and the central shivalinga Overnight Stay In Somnath.

Day 8: Somnath to Bhavnagar by surface (Approx. 300 Kms, 6 Hrs)
After breakfast check out from Hotel and drive from Somnath to Bhavnagar. Upon arrival at Bhavnagar, check in at Hotel. Later visit Vilbhi Puram, Niskalank Koliyak Mahadev Temple. Overnight stay at Bhavnagar.

Day 9: Same day Excursion to Palitana
Palitana located 51 km south west of Bhavnagar is known for being the largest cluster of Jain temples. There are in total 863 temples from base to the peak of the Shatrunjaya hill, where the Palitana temples are located. The path is climbed through 3950 steps spanning 3.5 km up the Shatrunjaya Hills. The construction of temples of Palitana spanned over a period of 900 years and was structured in two phases. From the 11th to12th centuries AD as a part of the resurgence of temple building all over India, the first phase of temple architecture was constructed. The second phase followed later, from the 16th century AD onwards. Muslim invaders destroyed some of the earliest temples built in the 11th century AD, during the 14th and 15th centuries AD. No one person can be attributed for the construction of these magnificent temples rather it was the effort of the wealthy businessmen who were followers of Jainism. Return back to Bhavnagar for an Overnight stay.

Day 10: Bhavnagar to Vadodara by surface (Approx. 200 Kms, 4-5 Hrs)
Today you will drive from Bhavnagar to Vadodara. Upon arrival at Vadodara, check in at Hotel. Afternoon city tour of Baroda.
EME Temple–(closed on sunday) Unique in concept and design the EME temple is a geodesic structure covered with aluminum sheets. Run entirely by the army authorities. (if time permits) (0930 am to 0500 pm).
Later visit Sayaji Baug Clock – (the famous park) is situated on river Vishwamitri and was built by Sayajirao III in 1879. Sprawling over 113 acres, it also includes an excellent zoo, the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, the Museum of Health and Hygiene and the Sardar Patel Planetarium. A major attraction for children is the 3.5 kms joy ride through the park on the toy train. Sayaji Baug (the famous park) is situated on river Vishwamitri and was built by Sayajirao III in 1879. It also includes an excellent Zoo, the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery Kirti Mandir –or temple of fame, is the cenotaph of the Gaekwads. It was built by Maharaja Sayaji Rao to perpetuate the glorious memory of his beloved ancestors. Overnight stay at Vadodara.

Day 11: Same day excursion of Dakorji
Early morning proceed to visit Dakorji – The main temple, enclosed by a fort wall, is situated near the bank of the holy lake Gomti in the midst of the main bazaar of Dakor. The temple is covered with 8 domes and 24 turrets, with the central dome reaching a height of 27m. Crowned with a golden kalash and a white silken flag, this temple is the tallest in the district. Though not very rich in carving, the main cupola derives its influence from the Maharashtrian style of temple architecture. The main hall features paintings depicting events in Lord Krishna’s life. Open from 6am-12 noon and 4pm-7pm daily Return back to Vadodara for an Overnight stay.

Day 12: Vadodara to Ahmedabad by surface (Approx. 120 Kms, 3 Hrs)

The city palace was built in 1725 with various palaces inside it such as Dilkush Mahal, the palace of Krishan Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal all ornately decorated. The museum in City Palace contains incomparable historic and artistic heritage which dates back to 14 century.

Jagdish Temple:
Dedicated to Vishnu, the preserver, this temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651.

Saheliyon Ki Bari:
The Garden of the Maids of Honour, a most serene place in Udaipur, designed by Maharana Fateh Singh. It consists of beautiful lawns, gardens and fountains, a retreat for the ladies of the household, Rana Pratap Smarak.

Sajan Niwas Gardens:
Overlooking the Fateh Sagar is the Moti Magri (Pearl Hill) on which is a statue of Maharana Pratap on his famous horse Chetak. Local guide claim that he jumped an abyss of extraordinary width in the heat of the battle even after losing one leg! The path to the top winds through some attractive gardens.

Lake Pichola:
The beautiful Lake Pichola derives its name from a nearby village Picholi. Udai Singh built a dam and from then the lake has become a meeting place for more than two hundred species of migratory and resident birds.

– En route visit the tranquil pilgrimage town of Ranakpur, renowned for some marvellously carved Jain temples.

Day 6: Jodhpur
– After breakfast proceed for city tour of Jodhpur Mehrangarh Fort and also visit Jaswant Thada & Umaid
Bhawan Palace.

Jodhpur Mehrangarh Fort:
It is located atop a 125 m high hill. The magnificent Mehrangarh Fort is the most majestic and one of the largest forts in India. The construction of the fort started in 1459. The walls of the fort are up to 36 m high and 21 m wide; they enclose some exquisite structures. The fort museum houses an exquisite collection of palanquins, howdahs, royal cradles, miniatures, musical instruments, costumes and furniture. The rampart of fort not only has excellently preserved cannons but also gives a breathtaking view of the city. Kipling once remarked, the fort seems to have been built by giants and not by ordinary people.

Jaswant Thada:
an architectural landmark. It is a white marble memorial built in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The monument, in its entirety, is built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. These stones are extremely thin and polished so that they emit a warm glow when the sun’s rays dance across their surface. Within this cenotaph, there are also two more tombs.

Umaid Bhawan Palace:
It is one of the fascinating palaces of Jodhpur, Maharaja Umaid Singh constructed in the 20th Century. A part of the palace has now been converted into a hotel and a museum.

Stepwells:
They are wells or ponds in which the water is reached by descending a set of steps. They may be covered and proteted and are oftern of architectural significance. The Stepwell ensures the availability of water during periods of drought. The stepwells had social, cultural and religion significance.

Jodhpur to Jaipur by surface (Approx. 333 Kms, 6-7 Hrs)
– After breakfast drive to Jaipur – Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh – II, the ruler of Amber, Jaipur was the first planned city in India. This town is also referred as Pink city for the colour of buildings in its wonderful old city. The city was painted pink to honour the visit of Prince Albert of England in 1882.

Amber City Fort:
situated 130m high with the Aravalli hills around and 11 km north of Jaipur. It was the ancient capital of the Kachhawaha Rajputs till 1037. Ride the colourfully painted elephants up the hill, admire the massive gateways, courts, stairways, pillared pavilions and palaces the recall the glory and wealth of Amber’s association with the Mughals.
– Afternoon enjoy city tour visiting the The Maharajah’s City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and Johari Bazaar.

The Maharajah’s City Palace:
A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Deve Temple and the City Palace Museum.

Jantar Mantar:
This is the largest and best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country.

Hawa Mahal:
The ornamental facade of this “Palace of Winds” is a landmark in Jaipur. Its five – storey structure of pink sandstone encrusted with fine tellies work and balconies has 953 inches and windows. It was built in 1799 by Pratap Singh and was a royal grandstand for palace women.

Johari Bazaar:
The main bazaar is in the old city for jewellery and saris.
